In early July, The Hudson Valley Creamery came to FeedHV with an emergency need to clear space and donated almost 30,000 pounds of goat cheese.

FeedHV and the Greene County Food Security Coalition (GCFSC) jumped into action and contacted members from all 7 of our covered counties.

Members from as far away as Sullivan County showed up through the CCE-Sullivan, along with almost a dozen other agencies and volunteers. The first pallets were loaded into a box truck and the CCE-Sullivan van, and some even filling SUVs for pantries to take immediately to their own storage.

Storage was mostly held in bulk at the Coxsackie Food Pantry and thanks to Jonathan of the GCFSC who had a connection to the Bruderhof Communities who could help store the overflow of pallets.

From there the cheese was tirelessly delivered and matched to agencies by Issabella, who is both a GCFSC member and FeedHV coordinator. For over a month the cheese made its way into 6 of our 7 county focus ending up as a donation to over 50 agencies and support outlets.

Jonathan of GCFSC and Isabella worked tirelessly alongside other volunteers to continue to track down additional storage, agencies and other human services outlets that could benefit from this massive donation. Along with Alan from Sullivan Fresh - CCE-Sullivan who drove two hours to collect and two hours back to Sullivan to distribute to those in need in Sullivan county.

Through their combined effort along with dozens of others, all of the cheese has been moved to their final homes!

A huge thank you to The Hudson Valley Creamery and a special thank you to CCE-Sullivan, The Greene County Food Security Coalition Members including Jonathan who never stopped working and Isabella of FeedHV for making this all possible!
