Berkshire Hills Eisenberg Camp of Copake made a substantial donation as it was closing for its 2023 season. It took three days of organizing and transporting, but the over 2,197 pound donation was directed to six agencies in Greene and Dutchess counties, including the Catskill Food Pantry, North East Community Center in Millerton, the Coxsackie Food Pantry, Fareground in Beacon, and Hope On A Mission and Community Housing Innovations in Poughkeepsie.
FeedHV rented a cargo van for deliveries and some agencies picked up themselves. Approximately 50% of the donation was protein and dairy (chicken, vegan proteins, franks in blankets, meat for stew, cheese, and lactose free milk). The remainder included produce, (onions, peppers, apples, pears, oranges) and baked goods (cookies, Tostitos, croutons, Texas toast, and taco shells).
This was the second year of donations for Berkshire Hills Eisenberg Camp. The multi-facetted property is primarily a co-ed Jewish sleep-away camp for children and teens 7-16. Situated on 640 secluded acres on the shores of Miller Pond, the camp was established in 1931, and in-season, houses 250 campers. Its vacation and group rentals offer cabin, and motel and dormitory style accommodations for up to 500 guests, and it also serves as an event venue, and has a culinary kitchen.
