After retiring following a career in higher education, the last 24 years commuting to NYU in Manhattan, I was looking for an opportunity to be of service here in the Hudson Valley where we have lived for the last 35 years and raised our family.
Too many people going to bed hungry.
Too much good food going to waste.
Enter FeedHV, our local food rescue and harvesting network, who help fill the food needs of our neighbors while reducing waste.
And there was a role for me: providing the link between the growers and food preparers to the food assistance programs who directly provide the fresh food to those who need it.
Since late winter 2021, I’ve enjoyed the privilege of working with the talented professionals at FeedHV, the generous growers and meal preparers and most especially, my neighbors who receive the nutritious food we deliver.
I’m grateful to FeedHV for the opportunity to serve.
